Safe and long-lasting: Fat graft/transfer to face from Plano surgeon
Loss of natural volume – fat, hydration, muscle, and even bone – is a primary cause of facial aging. Without it, skin sags and develops wrinkles. Noble Cosmetic Surgery – Patrick Obasi, M.D. offers fat graft/transfer to face, bringing youthful lift and rejuvenation to Plano, Dallas, and Frisco faces.
The autologous concept
The term “autologous” refers to your own cells or tissues. Autologous fat graft/transfer uses fat harvested from your body to augment areas of volume loss. Benefits of this method include:
- Extremely low risk of allergic reaction.
- Results look soft and natural.
- Grafted fat cells are living tissue, so improvement lasts a long time.
- The technique is minimally invasive.
- Recovery time is typically three weeks or less.
A three-step procedure
Local anesthetic ensures your comfort while the doctor makes tiny incisions for fat removal. He inserts a thin tube called a cannula, attached to a syringe to harvest fat from donor sites. Sutures are not necessary.
You relax while harvested fat is purified. Dr. Obasi uses a filtration method or centrifuge to remove impurities and thin fat so that it can pass through a fine needle.
Fat is transferred to the face to smooth creases, fill hollows, improve the appearance of depressed acne scars, and plump lips and cheeks. Dr. Obasi inserts a needle into the treatment area, passing it in and out multiple times. This technique deposits a line of fat cells in tissue planes. Injections are repeated until desired results are achieved. In some cases, the doctor may intentionally overfill just a bit, because not all of the grafted cells will survive.
Dr. Obasi is a diplomate of both American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and American Board of Surgery. He is experienced in the fat graft/transfer to face procedure.
